An exit interview is a loan counseling session that provides loan repayment, grace period, billing options information and collects updated borrower information as required by the federal government.

Prior to graduating, leaving the University or dropping below half-time, federal loan borrowers are required to complete a mandatory exit counseling session under federal law as a condition of receiving a federally funded student loan. The online exit-counseling session provides borrowers their rights and responsibilities as a federal loan recipient.

***Graduating students must complete this requirement or their diplomas may be held.***

To fulfill this requirement, you must go to www.studentloans.gov.

  1. Sign in using your FSA username and password.
  2. Choose the option Complete Counseling.
  3. Then choose Exit Counseling.

You will indicate that your school is Notre Dame of Maryland University and then you will proceed with the online exit process. You will receive a confirmation when it has been successfully completed and submitted to Notre Dame.
