Notre Dame depends on the voluntary support of our alumni.

Service is a key value in our community. But how do we know how much time a volunteer role requires? Check out the ways you can give your time, talent, and resources to the NDMU family using your availability as your guide.

Interested in any of these activities? Fill out this Volunteer Interest Form or contact the Office of Alumni Engagement at ndmalum@ndm.edu to sign up.

The Alumni Council

The Alumni Council serves as a liaising body between the Alumni Community and the University. They support all alumni efforts, student success, and community engagement. Under the council falls four committees: Awards and Recognition, Alumni Engagement, Young Alumni, and Women’s Leadership and Tradition.

The 2024 Reunion Committee

We are looking for volunteers from class years ending in 4 and 9 to help us plan this year’s Alumni Weekend. The Reunion Committee works with the Alumni Engagement Office to provide feedback on what you loved about previous reunions and help plan Alumni Weekend 2024 so your class feels as celebrated as possible. Volunteers will also collaborate on program planning, fundraising, class participation, and attendance outreach.

Class Leaders

Class Leaders are dedicated volunteers serving as a liaison between the Office of Alumni Engagement and their undergraduate classmates. This network of alumni will provide insight into the hearts and minds of their classmates and inspire engagement through volunteerism and philanthropy so the Office of Alumni Engagement can better serve the needs of our alumni community.

The Legacy Committee

The Legacy Committee promotes a lasting philanthropic commitment to Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Affinity Groups

The Office of Alumni Engagement is currently piloting three affinity groups for alumni: Alumni of Color, LGBTQ+ Alumni, and Graduate School Alumni. We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help us refine these affinity groups by creating goals and defining measures of success.

Regional Chapters

Do you want to get together with alumni that live in your area? Then this is a perfect opportunity to create a regional chapter for alumni living in a particular area.

Local and Regional Event Hosts

These volunteers can offer to host alumni and members of the Office of Institutional Advancement in their homes. Alumni who live anywhere in the United States are welcome to reach out so we can coordinate a visit to your area.

Dinner with Gators Host

The goal of Dinner with Gators is to create connections between current students and alumni. An early introduction to our Alumni Association will help our students, or alumni-in-training, gain a more realistic understanding of what it means to be an alum of NDMU. Through intentionally matched dinners and conversations, Dinner with Gators connects generations of NDMU alumni with current undergraduate students in the Student Alumni Leadership Council (SALC) who share similar interests, career goals, and identities. These events allow students to socialize and network, where they can learn how to stay involved with and connected to NDMU after graduation.

As a Dinner with Gators host, you will host dinners for approximately 3-4 SALC members. These gatherings can be as formal – or as casual – as the host desires and can take place in the alum's home or at a restaurant. Alumni need only sign up to host a dinner, select a location, decide upon the number of guests, and plan the menu. The SALC Advisor will coordinate student availability and transportation.

Networking Event Host

Organize and host a Notre Dame networking event virtually, at your office, or at a local community location. Early morning, happy hour, or evening are excellent times to link up with like-minded professionals. Let us know the details and we'll be happy to talk with you about outreach!

Guest Writer or Interviewee

NDMU graduates are often our best communicators. Guest writers or interviewees are welcome for our Tower Talk and Universitas publications. Sign up to be interviewed for an upcoming edition of Tower Talk.

Encourage Peer-Support in the Notre Dame Fund

Spread the word to everyone you know about the importance of giving back to Notre Dame. We are always looking for Giving Day Ambassadors to connect with friends and classmates on our annual Giving Day in February. Volunteers can also help by making phone calls to fellow graduates and/or writing thank-you notes to donors.
